This course prepares students to perform an assistive role to licensed nurses in acute care settings. Students learn advanced skills such as suture removal, sterile specimen collection, urinary catheterization, and venipuncture. Through classroom instruction, extensive lab demonstrations, and clinical experience, this course prepares students to apply for AUA certification issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. 40 hours of clinical follows the scheduled class dates. (Certification/testing fees are an additional cost.)

Must be at least 18 years of age. HS diploma or equivalent. Current certification by Oklahoma Nurse Aide Registry as CNA, successful completion of a state approved CNA program, successful completion of AUA Prep (MNTC course), or current employment as an acute care aide in a hospital (this option must be verified with program coordinator).
Must have a minimum of one of the following:
ACT reading score of 15
Classic ACCUPLACER reading score of 79
NextGen ACCUPLACER reading score of 254
Completed 12 college credit hours with a GPA of at least 2.5
Must meet with an MNTC career advisor prior to enrollment to confirm reading prerequisite.
