Under the tutelage of industry experts using manufacturers' manuals and materials, students will learn installation and repair of siding. This class will concentrate on vinyl siding. Class will include industry standards for installation and repairs. Students will be introduced to concepts regarding owning your own company. This class will incorporate hands-on learning at actual job sites under a mentor and job foreman, preparing students for entry jobs into the siding industry. Students will have the opportunity for paid internships after successfully completing the class, and may opt to test for VSI (Vinyl Siding Institute) certification.
Moore Norman Technology Center, in partnership with local contractors and manufacturers, will offer a short-term course that can lead to certification in vinyl siding installation. Through this partnership, along with industry-subsidized scholarships, the cost is $195.
Local contractors who invested in the program are seeking graduates of this adult-only course for hire. In six weeks, students will learn industry standards for the installation and repair of siding, with an emphasis on vinyl siding. Other sections of the course include concepts of company ownership.
Course learning areas:
- Demonstrate basic construction skills such as measuring, cutting and the use of hand tools.
- List hazards of siding installation and safety measures required.
- Describe customer service issues and resolutions.
- Identify problems/issues with given installation and repair scenarios.
- Demonstrate installation skills at a job site.
Students will have the advantage of learning on job sites under a mentor and a job foreman. There are also opportunities for paid internships after successful completion of the course. Graduates may also choose to take the Vinyl Siding Institute Certification (VSI) outside of their course tuition.
All MNTC instruction and curriculum is provided in English unless specifically stated otherwise.
It is the policy of the technology center board of education that students who have paid tuition for adult programs be given full or partial refunds under conditions stated in established guidelines.
A 1098-T Tuition Statement provides documentation you may be able to use to apply for education tax credits when you file your tax return. If you decline to provide your Social Security Number, we will not be able to provide you with a 1098-T.
