This course will provide the student with the theory and basic knowledge of pharmacy information systems, regulatory, legal and ethical considerations, drug calculations, terminology and other skills necessary to a pharmacy technician's job performance in the State of Oklahoma. It will prepare the student to practice in the field under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The content will be delivered online.
All MNTC instruction and curriculum is provided in English unless specifically stated otherwise.
This course requires a score of 17 in the math section on the ACT, an Accuplacer math score of 71 or Nextgen math score of 250. Must be 18 years old to take the course. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board requires a high school diploma or the equivalent educational diploma. Please see an advisor before enrollment. Must complete an OSBI background check prior to the field experience module.
As part of Moore Norman Technology Center's Pharmacy Technician Program, you will be required to practice your skills in facilities requiring background checks. Before you can be assigned to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for your clinical internship experience, you must have a background check . If student has been a resident of Oklahoma for less than one year, he or she must submit a national background check. Please contact program supervisor for further information. If your criminal history is positive, the facility will then review your personal criminal history background. Each facility has the right to accept or reject any student based on information shown in the criminal history background check. Moore Norman Technology Center cannot overrule the decision of the clinical or internship sites.
It is the policy of the technology center board of education that students who have paid tuition for adult programs be given full or partial refunds under conditions stated in established guidelines.
A 1098-T Tuition Statement provides documentation you may be able to use to apply for education tax credits when you file your tax return. If you decline to provide your Social Security Number, we will not be able to provide you with a 1098-T.
