This course will instruct the student on the various techniques used for venipuncture according to established procedures. It will highlight safety standards, legal and ethical issues, and quality control procedures. Students will learn basic medical terminology used in the laboratory as well as basic functioning of the cardiovascular system, including anatomy of the heart and vessels. The instructional format includes classroom instruction and hands on practice in the Health Lab. Forty-eight hours of clinical follows the class dates. Career Objectives: To become employable in a lab/healthcare setting upon successful completion of class and clinical requirements.
All MNTC instruction and curriculum is provided in English unless specifically stated otherwise.
Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. See catalog or website for clinical prerequisites. Students must submit all immunization records, background check and CPR card to coordinator prior to enrollment.
It is the policy of the technology center board of education that students who have paid tuition for adult programs be given full or partial refunds under conditions stated in established guidelines.
A 1098-T Tuition Statement provides documentation you may be able to use to apply for education tax credits when you file your tax return. If you decline to provide your Social Security Number, we will not be able to provide you with a 1098-T.
